After spending many years as a forgotten landmark, Yates Mill  is now a focal point of a small park on Lake Wheeler road in Raleigh North Carolina.  With the help of the local historic preservation group and volunteers, progress is under way and the mill has even been open and running  from time to time . The park is open seven days a week and offers outdoor opportunities, for walking, hiking, and even fishing. There is also a small museum that tells the history of the mill and the surrounding property.
